When I was a kid, my mom loved Easter. She would jump on my bed at the break of dawn and yell “HUNT EGGS!” before tearing off into my sister’s room for the same somewhat obnoxious—yet endearing—wake-up call. It was one of my favorite times of the year, and so it’s with that enthusiasm that I introduce the 2018 Spring YA Scavenger Hunt.
This bi-annual event was first organized by author Colleen Houck as a way to give readers a chance to gain access to exclusive bonus material from their favorite authors…and a chance to win some awesome prizes! On this hunt, you not only get access to exclusive content from each author (like which song inspired many scenes in LIZZIE), you also get a clue for the hunt. Add up the clues, and you can enter for our prize — one lucky winner will receive one book from each author on the hunt in my team! But play fast: this contest (and all the exclusive bonus material) will only be online for 120 hours!
Go to the YA Scavenger Hunt page to find out all about the hunt. There are SIX contests going on simultaneously, and you can enter one or all! I am a part of the GREEN TEAM — but there is also a red team, a gold team, a blue team, a purple team, and a pink team for a chance to win a whole different set of books! Check out the great titles for TEAM GREEN!
If you’d like to find out more about the hunt, see links to all the authors participating, and see the full list of prizes up for grabs, go to the YA Scavenger Hunt page.
Okay, here we go:
SCAVENGER HUNT PUZZLE
Directions: Below, you’ll notice that I’ve listed my favorite number. Collect the favorite numbers of all the authors on the green team, and then add them up (don’t worry, you can use a calculator!)
Entry Form: Once you’ve added up all the numbers, make sure you fill out the form here to officially qualify for the grand prize. Only entries that have the correct number will qualify.
Rules: Open internationally, anyone below the age of 18 should have a parent or guardian’s permission to enter. To be eligible for the grand prize, you must submit the completed entry form by April 8, 2018 at noon Pacific Time. Entries sent without the correct number or without contact information will not be considered.
SCAVENGER HUNT POST!
I’m excited to host the brilliant TERA LYNN CHILDS for the YA Scavenger Hunt!
Tera Lynn Childs is the RITA-award-winning young adult author of the mythology-based Oh. My. Gods. series, the Forgive My Fins mermaid romance series, the kick-butt monster-hunting Sweet Venom trilogy, and the Darkly Fae series. She also wrote the City Chicks sweet chick lit romance series and co-wrote the Hero Agenda and Creative HeArts series. Tera lives nowhere in particular and spends her time writing wherever she can find a comfy chair and a steady stream of caffeinated beverages.
At first glance I thought Tera had published 44 books, but it’s more like half that. Wait…what? That’s an impressive number of books! How many have YOU read?
To learn more about this amazing library of titles, or Tera herself, take a peek at her website.
For Tera’s bonus material, she’s included an infographic of the Clans of the Unseelie Fae in my Darkly Fae series, which includes this beauty (with a pretty green cover!)
In the world of the Darkly Fae, the clans are divided into two alignments: Seelie (light fae, who feed their powers for positive human emotions like love, hope, and joy) and Unseelie (dark fae, whose powers grow from negative human emotions like anger, pain, and grief).
Additionally, each of the clans is represented by an animal symbol.
The stories in the first Darkly Fae cycle all center around characters in the Clan Moraine, one of the Unseelie clans, which is represented by the fox.
But the Moraine is but one of many. This infographic shows all of the Unseelie clans and their animal symbols.
Okay, you’re all sent to continue the hunt. Jot down that favorite number “hidden” in my post (you saw it, right?), and then head over to Cindy L Rodriguez’s website for your next clue. Go forth and HUNT BOOKS!
Oh WAIT, there’s more! My new YA thriller, LIZZIE, launches April 10, and to celebrate, I’m giving away some goodies. Head to the SWAG “store” and tell me in the comments which item you would want if you were selected to win a prize—I’ll enter you in a draw, where up to 20 people will win the SWAG item of their choice, as well as a signed book plate. And, there’s still time to enter my pre-order giveaway for a chance to get more awesome SWAG, and a Lizzie Borden inspired grand prize. Click here for details.
Now you’re free to go! Good luck with your hunt!
